JOB, THE EDOMITE KING? PARTE 1

 
Everybody knows Job.
Or at least…
we THINK we know Job.
You know the story.
A righteous man.
A wealthy man.
Thousands of animals.
Ten children.
Satan walks into the picture.
Disaster strikes.
Job loses almost everything.
His friends show up and talk his ears off. 😂
Yahuah answers him.
Eventually, Job gets restored.
Beautiful story.
But WAIT!
WHO WAS THIS MAN?
Seriously.
Who was Job before the boils?
Who was Job before the ashes?
Who was Job before generations of Sunday-school lessons reduced him to “that patient man who suffered a lot”?
When I started following the fingerprints, Scripture left behind, I ran into something I couldn’t just walk past.
Wait, before we start today class, don’t forget that my name is Adewale, and we don’t care where you’re from, who you are, and your religion. This world and their allies have done ENOUGH damage to our realm, so bring your brain to the room for KNOWLEDGE.

Men, the internet has whoop my behind! My brain is hot at the moment, as I’m growing in the KNOWLEDGE of truth. I fought many obstacles (www), and finally, the gold came to the surface. TRULY, THIS IS NOT FOR BOYS. OK, let’s go. But wait, so they think they can just randomly place job anywhere and not figure out these things! YOU MUST TAKE YAH FOR A FOOL. Took away his identity and place in btw the prophets. This GREAT man was in the patriarchal age, along with our fore-fathers(Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). His story is totally screaming different timeline than the rest. Moreover, the language of the book should be paired with the patriarchal age. TRY AGAIN, POWETS THAT BE lmao. LOCK IN. 🔐

Job may not have been some random rich cattle owner sitting somewhere in the desert.
There is an ancient tradition that identifies Job as JOBAB—AN ACTUAL KING OF EDOM.
Yeah.
A KING.
Now, before somebody throws their Bible across the room 😂, we’re not going to start with traditions.
We’re going to start where TRWTH should always start:
THE SCRIPTURES.
And remember the rule:
“At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.” — Deuteronomy 19:15
One verse can get misunderstood.
One name can be a coincidence.
One location can be debated.
But when Scripture starts dropping breadcrumbs from Genesis to Job to Lamentations to Jeremiah…
FOLLOW THE BREAD.
FIRST QUESTION: WHERE DID JOB LIVE?
Open Job 1:1.
“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job…”
STOP.
Don’t run past UZ.
Scripture didn’t tell you that for decoration.
Write it down:
JOB → UZ
Now somebody asks:
“Adewale, where exactly is Uz?”
Good question.
Instead of immediately running to Google, archaeology, Josephus, Wikipedia, Pastor Johnson, Bishop Williams, and Uncle Deacon 😂… Let’s stay oriented. leave the devil alone for now, he’ssleeping. Don’t WAKE HIM UP!.
LET SCRIPTURE TALK.
Go to Lamentations 4:21:
“Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz…”
WAIT A MINUTE.
Job lives where?
UZ.
Edom is associated with what land?
UZ.
So our first trail is:
JOB → UZ → EDOM.
Now, don’t get excited and start shouting:
“JOB WAS AN EDOMITE! CASE CLOSED!”
NO.
Slow down and calm down. 😉
Uz has other biblical genealogical/geographical associations. This verse by itself doesn’t prove Job’s ancestry.
We’re detectives right now.
We found our first fingerprint.
Put it in the evidence bag.
We’re moving.
WHO IS EDOM?
Genesis doesn’t leave us guessing.
Genesis 36:8:
“Thus dwelt Esau in Mount Seir: Esau is Edom.”
There you go.
ABRAHAM
↓
ISAAC
↓
ESAU
↓
EDOM
Now stay in Genesis 36 because something is hiding in plain sight.
And when I say hiding, I mean the kind of verse people have probably read 50 times while their eyes were already thinking about lunch. 😂
EDOM HAD KINGS BEFORE ISRAEL HAD KINGS!
Read Genesis 36:31:
“And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.”
WHAT?!
Read it again.
Before Saul..
Before David.
Before Solomon.
EDOM ALREADY HAD KINGS.
Now watch this.
Bela becomes king.
Bela dies.
Then Genesis tells us who succeeds him.
Genesis 36:33
“And Bela died, and Jobab, the son of Zerah of Bozrah, reigned in his stead.”
Ladies and gentlemen…
Meet:
JOBAB.
Son of ZERAH.
Connected with BOZRAH.
And most importantly
KING OF EDOM.
Don’t call him Job yet.
Scripture said Jobab.
So we’re going to call him Jobab.
Put this man in your pocket.
We’ll come back for him.
Because right now I want to know something else.
WAS JOB REALLY JUST SOME RICH OLD MAN WITH CAMELS?
This is where the story starts getting spicy.
Go to Job 29.
Job is remembering his life before everything collapsed.
Job starts describing how society treated him.
Read Job 29:7:
“When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!”
Hold on.
THE CITY GATE?
In the ancient world, the city gate wasn’t the equivalent of somebody sitting outside Walmart. Try that here and you many end up visited by the Law to a psychiatric ward lol

The gate was a place where elders gathered, legal matters were handled, judgments were made, transactions were witnessed, and public leadership operated.
Look at Ruth 4.
Boaz handles the redemption matter at the gate before the elders.
So Job is telling you:
I had a seat at the gate.
Now watch what happens when Job arrives.
WHEN JOB WALKED IN… PEOPLE MOVED!
Job 29:8
“The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.”
Picture it.
Job is coming.
Young men see him…
MOVE!
Older men?
STAND UP.
But it gets crazier.
Job 29:9
“The princes refrained talking and laid their hand on their mouth.”
PRINCES?!
Hold on.
You’re telling me that when this man showed up…
PRINCES STOPPED TALKING?
Keep reading.
Job 29:10
“The nobles held their peace…”
Now paint the picture:
Young men → move.
Elders → stand.
Princes → shut their mouths.
Nobles → become silent.
And in walks…
JOB.
This man’s presence must have entered the room like thunder wearing sandals. HE SURE ACT AS THE GREATEST MAN NEAR EAST. This era was before the 1st king of Israel.

And we’re supposed to imagine he was merely some wealthy livestock owner?
Something bigger is happening here.
JOB WAS DISPENSING JUSTICE
Read Job 29:12–17.
Job describes himself rescuing the poor.
Defending the fatherless.
Helping widows.
Investigating cases he didn’t know.
Opposing wicked men.
He says:
“I brake the jaws of the wicked and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.”
That’s not Job literally walking around punching everybody’s jaw off. 😂
That’s powerful judicial imagery.
Job is saying:
When the wicked preyed upon the weak, I STOPPED THEM.
This man is functioning like a:
JUDGE.
ELDER.
RULER.
CHIEF.
Someone brings a case.
Job investigates.
Job decides.
Job executes justice.
And apparently, when Job spoke…
people listened.
WHEN JOB FINISHED SPEAKING, THE MEETING WAS OVER!
Job 29:21:
“Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.”
Then verse 22:
“After my words, they spake not again…”

WAIT!
Job speaks…
and everybody else basically says:
“Well… I guess that’s settled.”
This man’s words weren’t floating around like feathers in the wind or amapiano, waiting for her own madness to join the ginger.
His counsel landed like a judge’s gavel.
And then Job drops the verse that should make everybody investigating his identity sit upright.
JOB 29:25
“I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army…”
STOP THE CAR.
“AS A KING.”
Now, don’t twist it.
Job didn’t say:
“I was king of Edom.”
He said:
“AS a king.”
That’s important.
TRUTH doesn’t need makeup.
If something is true, let it walk outside with its natural face.
So Job 29:25 alone does NOT prove Job was literally a king.
But we’re investigating an ancient claim that Job was a king.
And suddenly the man himself tells us:
I sat chief.
Princes respected me.
Nobles listened to me.
People waited for my judgment.
I dwelt AS A KING.
Hmmmmmm.
Remember Jobab?
Don’t pull him out of your pocket yet.

We need another witness.
MEET ELIPHAZ THE TEMANITE
Job 2:11 introduces Job’s friends:
Eliphaz the Temanite
Bildad the Shuhite
Zophar the Naamathite
Again, don’t treat biblical names like speed bumps.
WHO IS A TEMANITE?
Go back to…
You guessed it.
GENESIS 36.
Genesis 36:10 identifies a son of Esau named:
ELIPHAZ.
Then Genesis 36:11 says:
“And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.”
Wait…
ESAU
↓
ELIPHAZ
↓
TEMAN
And Job’s friend is called:
ELIPHAZ THE TEMANITE.
Now, don’t misunderstand me. The shared name does not by itself prove Job’s Eliphaz was literally Esau’s son Eliphaz. “Temanite” identifies his association with Teman.
But where is Teman connected?
Go to Jeremiah 49:7:
“Concerning Edom, thus saith Yahuah of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman?”
There it is, AGAIN.
EDOM → TEMAN.
Job’s world keeps smelling like Edom.
First:
JOB → UZ
then:
UZ → EDOM
now:
JOB’S FRIEND → TEMAN
and:
TEMAN → EDOM.
One witness whispered.
The second witness just raised his voice.
NOW MEET BILDAD THE SHUHITE
Who’s this guy?
Go to Genesis 25:1–2.
Abraham has children through Keturah.
One of them is:
SHUAH.
Then Genesis 25:6 says Abraham sent these descendants:
“eastward, unto the east country.”
Now return to Job.
Job 1:3
Job is described as:
“the greatest of all the men of the east.”
There it is.
Again.
Job isn’t floating in some imaginary vacuum.
The book is surrounding him with names and geography belonging to the ancient eastern patriarchal world.
EVEN JOB’S WEALTH SCREAMS PATRIARCHAL WORLD
Look at how Job’s wealth is measured.
Job 1:3 gives us:
7,000 sheep
3,000 camels
500 yoke of oxen
500 she asses
plus a massive household.
That’s ancient wealth.
No stocks.
No Chase account.
No Bitcoin.
No 401(k).

Your balance sheet walked around eating grass.
That’s the world of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the ancient patriarchal economy.
Livestock.
Servants.
Household.
Land/resources.
Children.
Influence.
And Job wasn’t merely wealthy.
Scripture calls him:
“the greatest of all the men of the east.”
That’s a gigantic statement.
JOB ALSO OFFERED SACRIFICES FOR HIS OWN HOUSE
Job 1:5 says Job offered burnt offerings for his children.
Notice something.
Where’s the Levitical Priest?
Where’s Jerusalem?
Where’s the Temple?
Where’s the tabernacle?
Where’s Job saying:
“Let me go find Aaron’s descendant”?
You don’t see it.
Job himself acts sacrificially on behalf of his household.
That fits naturally with the patriarchal pattern we see before the established Levitical system.
Again:
Does that single-handedly date Job?
No.
But another piece just landed on the table.
NOW LET’S EMPTY THE EVIDENCE BAG
So far, we haven’t needed the Septuagint appendix.
We haven’t needed an ancient historian.
We’re looking primarily at the canonical clues.
Here’s what we’ve got.
WITNESS #1 — LOCATION
Job 1:1
JOB → UZ
Lamentations 4:21
EDOM → UZ
Therefore:
JOB → UZ → EDOMIC SETTING.
Not absolute proof of ethnicity.
But definitely evidence.
WITNESS #2 — HIS ASSOCIATES
Job 2:11
ELIPHAZ → TEMANITE
Genesis 36
TEMAN → descendants associated with ESAU/EDOM
Jeremiah 49:7
TEMAN → EDOM
Another Edomite connection.
WITNESS #3 — HIS POSITION
Job 29
Job:
sits at the gate,
dispenses justice,
commands respect from elders,
silences princes,
is heard by nobles,
sits chief,
and describes himself:
“AS A KING.”
Now…
Go back to Genesis 36:33.
Sitting quietly inside Edom’s royal genealogy is:
JOBAB SON OF ZERAH — KING OF EDOM.
Now I’m asking you:
Are you seeing why ancient readers started connecting these dots?
Because NOW…
we’re ready for the bombshell.
OPEN THE SEPTUAGINT.
The Septuagint (LXX) preserves an ancient Greek version of the Hebrew Scriptures.
At the conclusion of the Greek Job, after the familiar ending, there’s additional material not present in the standard Masoretic Hebrew ending.
And suddenly…
THE MASK COMES OFF.
The Greek tradition says Job lived around the borders of Edom and Arabia.
Then it says his previous name was:
JOBAB.
And then it gets even more specific.
It identifies him with Zerah and the line of Esau.
Then, the text lists Edom’s kings.
And when it reaches Jobab, it identifies him as:
“Jobab, who is called Job.”

WAIT.
WHAT?!

Remember what we did?
We didn’t start here.
That’s important.
We followed:
JOB
↓
UZ
↓
EDOM
↓
TEMAN
↓
EASTERN PATRIARCHAL WORLD
↓
CITY GATE
↓
PRINCES
↓
JUDGMENT
↓
“AS A KING”
↓
JOBAB — KING OF EDOM
And THEN the ancient Greek tradition turns around and says:
JOBAB = JOB.
Now THAT has my attention.
AND IT DOESN’T STOP WITH THE SEPTUAGINT
An ancient Jewish writer known as Aristeas the Historian, preserved through later quotations, also carried the identification of Job with the Jobab of Genesis 36.
The surviving tradition specifically connects the argument with Jobab, Eliphaz, Teman, and Uz.

Then there’s the ancient Testament of Job, another noncanonical work.
One of its transmitted titles actually describes it as the book of:
“Job called Jobab.”
